I have about talked myself into a 87 16V. Havent found too many aftermarket benz sites on the net? A couple problems with the car I would like an owners input on.

1. Rust under the doors. (common?)
2. Ran the VIN and came up as a diesel?
3. How many were sent to the US in 87?
4. What problems am I likely to encounter at 211,000?
5. The timing chain has never been replaced..this is a bad thing right?
6. What pieces am I likely going to need to replace as soon as it is bought?
7. Noticed some really trick CF on the dash (instead of wood) of a members car..where did this come from?

Rust is all to common on any Mercedes that is 12+ years old, depending on where it is located.

211K is a lot of miles. Updated tensioner, new chain & rails is a MUST at this point. Good preventive maintenance. ! !
