Hi guys,
After not using my 03 600 for over a week, then starting and moving it around for cleaning - my battery has gone flat - lights flicker on the dash when I try and start it, plus tinking noises everywhere!
Now I cannot get into the boot to charge it, not even with the metal fob key!

Any advice on how to get the boot open please!!!

Cheers ........... ed from NZ

Spray some PTFE into the lock, keep inserting the key and wriggling, if you have something that vibrates like a sander or something hold this against the key end and it may jiggle the levers in the lock to drop and let you open the boot. This does work quite well.

If you have a battery charger, then you could join this to the large wire on the starter motor but this is hard to get to.

If you have a spare cigar lighter plug then join the charger in here anturn the key to 1 and this will let you open the boot via the remote..

Do keep working on that boot lock,,then get the little plug to keep it from going again from MB

THanks TV,
Just moved the key about all over the place - and it opened reluctantly! Not impressed with MB considering this car cost as much as a nice home in New Zealand when new!

My battery is now charging - will I lose all my settings once reconnected? Do I have to go to a dealer to get these re-set?
Is one of those little chargers that keep the battery topped up and that you connect with the terminals still on the battery OK to use on a 05 CL600???

THanks for any help

Yes the C tec chargers are very good, you can leave it plugged in.

When you join back up again,, you must re set the roof and windows

Turn the key to 2 (ign)
Close each window in turn with the slow close switch and hold it for 5 seconds

open the roof and do the same.

The ESP lamp will go out as you start to drive

Do get some PTFE and spray the lock and get some of these

Just want to saying after a massive two days of trickle charging, the battery was finally fully charged! Just reconnected the earth terminal and everything worked! - Nothing needed to be re-set. Is that normal?
Only hassle I had was that I left the boot key slot in the wrong postion so it would not open remotely - after some initial panic - I realised what I has done, turned the slot 90 degrees with the key and all was well.
