I have a little play in the upper control arm ball joint on my '87 560SEL, so it's time to think about replacing it. But... I found some brands that I've not seen before. I know the URO's and DP's are trash. Pretty good guess that the $110 each TRWs are excellent.

Are FEBI upper control arms decent quality? What about Dorman, Karlyn, Flennor, or Koolman's?

When I replaced mine, everything was pointing to TRW as being OEM, I haven't seen Lemforder as having the Upper control available from them. I have heard good things from moog but when I saw TRW I went for it. febi has only given me headaches in any part I have ordered so I tend to avoid at all costs unless absolutely necessary.

I found out from a distributor that Lemforder stopped producing the control arms for the W126 a while back. The only Lemforders left are built up stock. I can get them, from Germany, or from a seller in California who is on eBay.

Who really knows who the contracted manufacturer is. Some say Lemforder others TRW. I have seem at some point in my research a Lemforder that actually had the Mercedes part number and Logo on it, but again who knows. You're best bet is just lay down 700 bucks on dealer parts.

UCA Lemforder Brand

I bought mine at @ $120/pc. about a year ago. Haven't installed them yet. You can still find them. I just saw a seller from Germany has one for sale. Keep looking Mike, don't settle for less.

And BTW, they had the Mercedes part on them, but it was taken down with the grinder (you can see that on the one I got out of the bag). The installed rubber bushings still have the MB part number on them.

I have been told that Meyle (Wulf-Gaertner) has sizable test lab and production facilities for anything involving kautchuk / synthetic rubber to metal compounds in Thailand & Malaysia.
The quality is said to be good.
