I'm assuming you are talking about the MCS (radio) and if so yes you can get it changed. Dependin on whether you have a fiber optic CD Changer or not you will need a certain MCS unit. More than likely I'm guessin you do not have fiber with it bein a 99. You can usually pick one up on ebay for about %500-$700. Or your local dealer but they will of course charge you an arm and a leg... choice is yours. Hope that helps a bit

Unless you just "must" have OEM MBZ equipment, I'd go aftermarket. Eclipse and Kenwood both make some nice double-DIN units with 6.5" LCD screens. They play DVD's and MP3's and have AUX inputs. I'm thinking of pulling my MCS out for the Kenwood, especially since it has inputs for Music Keg and satellite radio.

It takes about 5 minutes to change over to the MCS from your 1999 radio.
Just keep your eyes open for a 2000 ML MCS unit MB Part # A163 820 04 86
or
A163 820 21 86
Other model #'s may work if it is from a 2000 ML but I know both these models work for sure. Just remember to get the Radio Code from whomever sells you the MCS otherwise it won't work.
Get your hands on a pair of MB radio removal keys (to remove your radio and storage bin) like these:

and then you will have this, minus the NAV since you don't want it.

OH yeah, 1 more thing. You will lose AM radio unless you get a Euro part that will fix it or you can re-wire your harness with 1 or 2 connections. I never re-wired mine since I got the Euro parts but I think someone here did do it.
