I really like the look of the 2002+ model updated heater and fan switches (the circular ones).
I have a 2000 model , has anyone worked out if these new upgraded dials/switches can be used ?

thanks

Doug

I think you are limited by the fact that the older dials are mechanical (cables are connected to the circular dials and the gates on the HVAC unit under the dash) and the newer dials are electronic. I am not the expert on this topic. 43sqd and or Witek can explain better...

Are you looking for just the looks of newer dials? or you want the entire HVAC controller unit be upgraded?

pcy is correct. The early models are partially mechanical, while the later models are fully electronic. It can't be done.

It's a shame it can't be done Doug11 because the newer dials really are nice as you say.

Those newer dials where a a major part of my decision to get a 2002 model over the 2001/earlier models.

And that's one of the reasons I like my older dials... fully manual, none of this electronics mumbo jumbo to break. If I could, I'd get a car with manual A/C, manual seats, MB tex, no sunroof... only thing I'd keep is express windows.

Hmmm Boca, I don't recall seeing any posts where a member's HVAC controls on the 2002+ models failed.:)

I never figured out the new fangled electronic A/C's where on/off switches work only if the computer decides it is best for you.
