I have posted on this forum, mostly asking for help. This is an awesome sight to gain useful information on upgrades, malfunctions, trubleshooting, etc.
My issues and solutions:
1. complaint-rattle noise over passenger wheel when going over the smallest bumps; the finding was a broken spring on that side that could use replacing. I'm not sure if I will keep this car and the ride is not noticeably different.
2. complaint- trunk will not close. one cold chicago day, opened the trunk with remote key then could not close it. the problem was with the power latch motor and handle. the repair required an upgrade of that locking system costing $300.
3. brake lining wear indicator- brake pads, fluid, and rotors only have 6K miles on them, so I thought there may be uneven wear causing the sensor to trigger. After taking the wheels off and looking at the pads, everything looked okay. I had an extra sensor which I used to test each pad/sensor unit. The driver side sensor was evidently the culprit. A simple replacement eliminated the message.
4. SRS warning light- still working on this one. This warning just randomly lit up one day. I have hesitated to take it to the dealer due to lack of money. I know that the airbags are important, but to tell the truth seatbelts have saved more lives than any other restraining system. In addition, I'd hate to dish out about 600 to repair then get rid of the car in 6 months.
purpose of this message is simply to add info to this forum's database for those who do searches of similar complaints.
thanks to all.
