does anyone know what this is ? the right hand piece is a plastic female part of a small ball & socket assembly; the black piece in the middle is a neoprene sleeve (2") covering a small diameter wound wire and at the left end is a small piece that looks like an electrical connector. the ball & socket end and the connector end are a offset 90 degrees. the whole piece is about 6-7" long and I think it has something to do with the convertible top mechanism.

Clarification of the above post: it is from a 2003 CLK320 convertible and the top is not going up or down..

The roof has 2 pairs tension cables (e.g. left and right sides) . The front bow tension cables are item 110 and P/N A 208 770 00 66 and the rear bow tension cables are item 180 and P/N A 208 770 03 66.
