I had purchased a 411 in canada and the us wouldnt let it in. I was heart broken, i had waited and waited and done all my home work and paperwork and i even used a broker. But still no 411.

Like this, I may entertain offers. Here it is workin two days ago. Front and rear PTO and single circuit hydraulics. Starts, stops and runs well. Needs lots of TLC. I have doors bed sides and gate as well as top that needs new fabric. Not really looking to sell but it would allow me to focus on other projects.

I am sure this will open the flood gates but how is that even possible? Was it a tractor and you were trying to bring it in as a truck? Did it have a title? How could they not let it in?
I had my 406 on a trailer and it took less than 20 minutes of paperwork. I was armed with prior cases printed off of the internet regarding what their judgment of a Unimog was.
Was it a Dept of Agriculture thing where they wanted it disinfected first ? I don't understand either. With a truck that old, there certainly is no DOT/NHTSA issue <?>

I am beside myself on how that is even possible. A 411 imported as a tractor, truck, passenger car, or bucket of parts should be importable, due to the fact that it is WAY over 25 years old, so it is dot and epa exempt. MB even sold them new in the U.S. and Canada. I have a feeling your broker doesn't have any idea what he is trying to import for you.
The ONLY reason I could see for it not being importable is if the VIN on the body doesn't match the VIN on the chassis rail, or if the numbers are mutilated or have been tampered with... or it is in the system as stolen.

Toby...if you want the 411...I'll go up and get it for you. Let me know! You must have gotten to a bad agent who had a bad day....First off...You don't need to use an agent...although it helps...sometimes the wrong agent can do things right...misplace paperwork ect. My friend brought 3-Haffies across...they waved and said have a nice day...no fees...no agent....so let me know where it's at and I will go up and get it for you.
It was a border thing. all the vin's matched, and there was no lean. I tried bringing it in as a tractor, but they wouldnt do it and its never been registered before.
Its still up in canada, just across the border at a friends farm. I was thinking of heading up and just driving it across the border with a disk hooked on itand bringing it in that way.
Just do a search on the computer for their ruling and print it out and hand it to them. Ask for help from them and then they will feel superior.
There is even a ruling for a U1550 L/37 to be imported as a tractor on the CBP website.
Even the U500 is ruled to be a tractor for import duty purpose.
