Hi everyone
I got a strange problem with my 190E which I am trying to resolve. From the beginning that i had the car, some 6 months now, the car would accelerate un eavenly. Say I'm at a red light and I step on the gas, say 50% throttle, the car will rev up to 1500 rpm and stay there for a second, and then it would contine on. This was bothering me a bit, but it did not cause any problems. However, now that I am replacing a few pieces of my fule delivery system, the car started acting a bit more strange then usual. Once I hit 3000rpm on the highway, sometimes, not always the engine will not give the power it should. It feels as if I'm pushing down the accelerator and releasing it all the time, also un eavenly. I have reasons to believe that somewhere along the way the fuel line might have a clog and this causes it. Next week i will receive my parts and I will replace a portion of the fuel line, I hope this is it, but if not, does anyone have any idea what it could be?

It could be the spark plugs, try to install new ones - remember to buy the orginal bosch....

there is a little black rectangular valve that goes connected to the fuel distributor unde...

there is a little black rectangular valve that goes connected to the fuel distributor under the air filter.
I believe it is called the EAJ valve. If you try everything else without luck, change that and it should do the trick. To know if it absolutely needs to be changed, run your finger through the bottom of it and see if it is leaking gas.

No it's not the tranny, the engine does this and I have very good reasons to believe that it's fuel starvation caused by something, either bad cold air shut off valve, or something called an EAJ valve. I'm waiting for my service CD to arrive so I can check all these things. One thing I know is that I want to get it fixed.

Have you checked if there is an oxygen/air leak? it could be related... Maybe a hose that ...

Might try using a new computer (ECU), which is many times related to these things.

Uneven accelaration

I had the same problem with my 190e. Typically its ussually the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. I replaced the fuel pump and the relay and it went with no problems.... Ussually the non return valve in the pump dies ...

think simple things first!!!

go through everthing like your spark timing....
your mixture....
your idle speed...
fuel filters....
spark plugs
leads
are all the plugs tight in the head?

Few odd questions, one odd suggestion.

First question:
Is this still an outstanding issue? If not, please post the resolution.
Second question:
Have you noticed any oddities in fuel pressure at the time of fueling. Any positive, or negative pressure when you open the fuel cap?
Background:
I recently purchased a 190e with no M/B experience. Following a maintenance research, and a compression check, picked up the automobile. After a few weeks, experienced the same indications you experienced. After jumping to a few conclusions, my BMW shop recommended that I try to run with the fuel cap off, since they've seen similar issues due to fuel venting problems.
Suggestion:
Try running with the fuel cap cocked to allow greater air venting into the tank.

Please let me know your findings. Mine ran without issue in this mode. I'm still trying to find a root cause to my problem, I'll share the resolve if it's a positive cure for an intermittent problem.

Hi!

Replace your distributor cap, rotor, and coil. This will solve your problem . Hint, the coil fasteners are easily accessed from the wheelwell with a ratchet (just be sure to steer all the way to the left first) assuming you have a LHD car.

I have had a similar problem which I have been chasing for over 4 months now & counting. Arghhhh !![

Believe me when I say this, I have changed more parts on my car than most people do over a the lifetime of their vehicle.

EHA - Electro Hydraulic Actuator, check the voltage readins to it.

Also, perform a fuel flow test !

Another problem is that the poteniometer on the airflow meter could be causing inaccurate mixture. I could go on & on & on, but it would be best to spend the coin & have it diagnosed rather than go the route I did. But hey I am a Mercedes parts dude [

Well if the car revs up to 1500 revs then accelerates it sounds like a transmission problem to me. Its just he obvious thing to look at..... You say "the engine does this its not the transmission". The transmission transmits power from the engine to the wheels....if something like a clutch plate needs replacing then it will rev up like this "then carry on". If its an automatic, then i suggest checking the fluid level, get a full service and check. Services dont really break the bank (well at least not here in new zealand). Another thing it COULD be is the ignition timeing...to far advanced (i think). I cant really tell u alot more as i havent been around the tech speak lately [xx(]

just a thought

having a look at my haynes manual, you can check and see it the fuel air mixture is right (thus checking if the engine is being starved of fuel). Take out one spark plug and look at what color deposits are on the electrode. If alls good it should be a brown to light grey / tan colour. If it appears another colour then it could indicate incorrect timing or incorrect mixture
