Anyone here thought of applying rubberized undercoating to help prevent the under-side of the car from rusting and to decrease sound penetration?

I used a 3M product that came in a can for my japanese car and it worked great at reducing sound and it seemed to keep the underside rust-free.

Anyone try Ziebart on a W140 chassis?

Anyone have thoughts and experiences to share?

My thoughts are that your car comes undercoated from the factory and you might be wasting your time.

MAINTAIN the factory undercoating. The W140 is undercoated and shielded (wheel wells, motor, etc.)to the Nth degree! The sound deadening is also superior. Spraying ruberized asphalt all over will not help the sound deadening and will allow rust to start underneath. Inspect the under body at least once a year and repair any defects in the factory undercoating. You may also want to spray on a wax type rust preventative every fall on areas that have paint/corrosion coat instead of the undercoating. This stuff does help prevent rust and washes off in a year or so so that it does not trap water and salt.
