It's moments like this when I realise I drive umpteen year old cars. Went to a newer part of the board, and it reads like some of these guys have never seen under their hood.

Geesh! It's a wonder how some people amass enough money to purchase a car, let alone the knowledge for it's upkeep.........Now......where is my dipstick?

Well these are NEW S Class owners – the flagship of the fleet and they pay for it. Most of these guys are lawyers, doctors, CEOs and the like and not prone to roll up their sleeves and get grease under their nails. The original owners of our cars may have been just as clueless. [:0][;)][:p]

yeah, maybe they don´t know.

but alotta people here in the w126 section DO think you got to change oil every 3000 miles and they even use sythetic oil...

IF you use full synthetic oil it only makes sense to change the oil ever 7500 miles, because thats what its made for.

What concerns me is that Chucky put TWO quarts of oil in his engine. Now, if the low oil sensor is the same as on our 126s, the light goes on just above the low mark on the dipstick. One adds only ONE quart of oil – I hope he did not overfill the engine.

I'm wondering why is his new generation S-Class even showing low at all??? Just doesn't seem right, to me. His car is still under warrenty, should be air tight.

You don't even have to look under the hood. My ML 320 shows on the computer whether oil is ok, add 1 quart, add 2 quart, and over fill (drain).

As for adding oil, many car enthusiasts should know that all cars, and I repeat all cars burn some oil (if anyone can argue this bring it on!!!). Some more than others of course. A 911 burns 1 litre/1000 km during break in!!
