Anyone ever thought about setting one up?

now that 638's are getting cheap they seem to becoming quite popular

noticed this foum is more geared towards the US and north america

just wondering if anyone had considered setting a uk one up? would be more useful for setting up UK meets, and for buying/selling etc

I dont think it would be that popular as there dont seem to be many people that like them, no one ever comes on here and says " i just thought i would let you know that i havent had any problems with my vito and it is wonderfull" . Every one comes on here to say that they have broken down again. I suppose we could all compare our breakdowns:)

On all the forums I'm on or have been on, car or motorbike, the main focus seems to be on their faults, and to be honest, I think if I'd read through any of them before buying the vehicle, I'd probably not have bothered

I love my Vito.....I'll love it even more when I've replaced the knackered alternator

Whats up with ya alternator, mine dont start charging straight away all the time, it some time takes about a mile of driving to start but once it has been stopped and restarted it is fine all day. I cant be bothered to fix it while it still works but otherwise i love my vito very very much indeed.

Had the same thing when i got mine, it sounded like a supercharger, lubed up all the bearings on everything including the altenator and it stopped never to return, dont know which item it was but it did the job which is what matters.

I agree. If you look at any forum on anything whether it be for a car, laptop, washing machine, youde only ever see people asking for help with faults.

If you were researching whether the product was any good youde be put off for sure.

But people asking for help with faults is no bad thing as it means people are keen to keep their van on the road. I love mine, it has a few faults but am fixing them slowly. Mines done 250k and it stil going strong. Most cars around 1999 with that mileage will have faults and rust. I dont know why people slag the Vito and V-class off. I presume its ignorance.

I think a UK specific forum would be nice but will it need someone to maintain it.

I pretty new to this site and only had my vito for 6mnths but i agree with you all really i've had some great help from people on here but to be honest i only seem to come on whenever i get another problem! But its still the best van i've ever had! (even if the heating, dash, turbo....are all knackered!)

I took the belt off and the alternator was really rough when turned by hand, I'll try greasing it up, but I think it's gone beyond that now, cheers though

Before I bought mine I checked the various forums and read the reviews on the V class but I wanted one so went ahead and bought one, I am very pleased with it, it does the job for my needs, I can carry my disabled daughter in her wheelchair, I have a St Bernard Dog, she gets in and out with no problem, I also carry loads of various items which fill the whole of the space at the rear, for me it is an ideal vehicle, I could have gone for something else but every vehicle has it's own set of problems, my wife has an S type Jaguar, people were telling us to steer clear of them but it has been a brilliant car and when I go on that forum I wonder if I am on the right one when I read aboul all the problems.
I think if you are interested in a certain marque it is interesting to read what you can be it good or bad. The suggestion of a forum is a great idea

It seems it is a VERY basic, poorly attended forum, espescially when you consider that our Vitos are sold throughout most of the world. ATM, this seems to be the best place for Vitos though.

To see how a forum should be, have a look at

Australian Ford Forums - powered by vBulletin

Have a look at the volume of readers and contributers, given that it is an Aussie based site, relating to a limited size Australian (Ford) car market. If only this Vito site was this comprehensive, then you wouldn't need anything else.
