I've got a new (8 month old now) C200 Kompressor with the sport pack including Ventilated Front Discs.

Last week I took the car for its 10K service.

The merc garage told me the holes in the discs were clogged with 'dirt' and needed cleaning.

Cost me £129 for them to be drilled out.

My question is...

Is it normal for such brakes to get clogged (it was brake dust)?

And in any case is it normal or reccomended to use a drill to clean the holes?

To give you all full info, the car is mainly used for school runs and short trips by the wife. It's not driven or braked in excess.

Many Thanks,
