Euro Wheel
5828 Star Ln.
Houston, TX 77057
713-278-9655 (ask for Carlos)

The owner of this shop is an honest man, a rare find among mechanics today. I can personally recall a time when a local shop (which will remain unnamed) told a fellow MB owner that their car needed a boatload of work. I referred them to Euro Wheel for a second opinion. Euro Wheel did an inspection and found that the boatload of work that the unnamed shop recommended was not even needed. Euro Wheel has low labor rates, and Carlos will even let you bring your own parts. He deals primarily with older MBs, though I've seen a few late models come through for service.

I have taken several MB's and BMW's to Mike at MPH Automotive Services.

For major repairs, Mike is reasonable, and will do the job correctly. They also do warranty work.

Helmut Holder is a legend. He's from Germany, and his experience in working on Mercedes-Benzes spans nearly six decades. He opened up the first Mercedes-Benz dealership in Houston in 1962, and he mainly works on cars from that vintage. The newest MB I've seen him working on is a late production W124, though he may work on models newer than that. You'll have to inquire to be sure.

Helmut Holder is a legend.
I'll second H-town's appraisal. When I bought my 1967 230S out of New York a few years ago and had it shipped to Houston it definitely needed some carburetor work. I knew that Helmut worked on vintage Benz and thought he would be just the person to get my fintail running right.

I was told by some that Helmut might not be interested in working on something as prosaic as a sedan since he had worked on 300SL's, cabriolets, and other high-dollar Mercedes-Benz (I just can't bring myself to write or say "Mercedes-Benzes"). "They" were wrong. Helmut's eyes lit up when he saw me drive up to his shop. Needless to say he kept my 40-year-old car running great during the time I owned it.

Once I called him from my garage at home and described a problem I was having and asked him when I could bring the car in for him to repair. He told me I didn't need to bring the car in - that he would tell me what I needed to do over the phone. And he did. He could even tell me what size wrench I would need to loosen this nut or that bolt. His knowledge of Mercedes-Benz is phenomenal.

Any ideas for a major A/C job on a '82 300tdt? I'm afraid to mess with it, and my usual mechanic gave up after a few days. Would Euro Wheel take it?

Thanks for all your help.

Euro Wheel just redoes wheels to look like new - I've used them too and they do great work.

Helmut is getting up there in age; I went to his shop two weeks ago and he was tuckered out in the office and his employees did all the work in the shop. Not that he's bad - he's exceptional, I just wonder how much longer he's got!

Two streets down from Helmut (and a good friend of Helmut's) is Hans at AutoHaus Stuttgart; he'll work on your AC, and he's honest. My father started using him in the early 80s; he's been working on mine since I got the MB bug.

Euro Wheel is a full fledged repair shop. There is a place across the street from them that refinishes wheels though.

I took my parents ML430 with the compressor locked up to this guy Jay at Pro Drive Axle. He changed the compressor and recharge my system all for $335 and gave me a full 1 year warranty. The cheapest quote I got was $900.00 His number is (713) 339-9009

If you live on the West side Discount Tire has done a great job of changing out my tires without damaging my rims. They will walk out to your car and look at your rims in advance and note any existing issues so you are both on the same page going in. I have bought two sets without a nick or scratch in my polished stock C230 Sport rims. 24202 Cinco Ranch Boulevard, Katy, TX (281) 392-5444

Great service in west Houston

I found an honest, well trained Mercedes mechanic in west Houston. He (Rudi) is from Germany and trained in Germany in the Mercedes school. For over two years he has serviced my car. The cost has been minimal and the service was performed timely and expertly. The facility is

Some good and some bad

My experience is that Helmut is much better than K&H. K&H appears to be a first rate shop that you could depend on for a quality and quick repair, but they have missed too many things for me to keep going back there.

The recently missed the fact that my ball joint was loose after asking them what might be making a noise on braking at the front passenger wheel. I did the repair after trying to get aligned at Firestone. There was almost a 1/4" of play in the ball joint. All of the posts that I read about ball joints list the scenario as I described it.

Anyway, I hope that I am the only one that fell through the cracks there at K&H.

My wife takes her BMW to TGA. I have thought about giving them a shot, except for the last time she was in there, they were having trouble breaking some fittings loose on her break line.

Home His name is Maikel Alfaro
I personally,my company and a few dealerships I've recommended him too have used him for 4+ years now.
Hes mobile and can come to you knows the cars has to the tools and the training and is VERY reasonable. He only works on cars 96 and new though.

Also C&G MB repair C & G REPAIR HOUSTON MERCEDES REPAIR SINCE 1985 - C & G REPAIR INC.
They are a small shop owned and operated by an older couple who have been living driving fixing MB since the early 1970's prices are fair and he is through and Honest.

Lastly Home Midtown Mercedes service is run by a few former Master techs from various Houston MB dealerships. They have about 30 years of experience combined, Prices are fair and repairs are as good as dealer if not better.

I hope this helps any who are in need of repair.

For West Houston, I will second the recommendation of Rudy at SCS.

Not only is he very knowledgeable of things Mercedes, a straight shooter and fairly priced, his wife was kind enough to transport me to and from the local Starbucks where I could park with my laptop and cell phone for a couple hours. And since it was near the end of the work day when I picked my car up, Rudi and I sat and talked Mercedes over a cold German Beck's beer. That's customer service

I completely trust my mechanic - he will work on any Mercedes, but specializes in the older models. His prices are fair, he uses OEM new parts or better replacements depending on the need - his work is exceptional. He still approaches a repair as an art form.
I have taken my last 2 MB to him, and will not even think of anyone else.
If you call or stop by, tell him "Tom and Pam sent me".

TX, Houston - GR Auto Care

Referral:

G R Auto Care
19030 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring, TX 77379
(281) 257-6976 ‎

Thought I'd throw George, Larry, and Mike at G R Auto Care in Spring, TX a "bone of congratulations and thanks" for superior service which draws upon friendliness, experience, and their professionalism.

If you're seeking input on quality service/repair shops for your European automobile - GR Auto Care must be one of the best around the Houston vicinity. They service my Mercedes vehicles ('88 560SL and '08 CLS550) and do so with my confidence the the work performed is always top tier and a resonable price using only Genuine / OEM Mercedes-Benz parts.

George and Larry his son are the owners. George has something like 40+ Years experience working on/repairing and servicing European cars, i.e. Mercedes/BMW, Audi, Etc and was likely the mentor to Larry.

A visit to their shop will enlighten you simply by the range of customer's vehicles there at any given time which instills confidence of the quality of service they provided.

Larry (as lead) together with Mike basically to my 560SL through a complete chassis refresh (suspension, mounts, fuel sys, etc.) at a very reasonable rate and with the quality of time and careful diagnosis that re-delivered to me a vehicle which drives as if it were new...(141k miles). When it came time to do my valve stem seals and timing chain tensioner check, there was no hesitation whatsoever as to where to take it (Back to GR !!!!).

Larry and his Dad (George) are "SMEs" (subject -matter-experts) and know the older MB's inside/out...no guessing games with them...and the work the propose is only the work that is needed. They have a repeat customer base such that they have no need to waste time or money be that they[re own or their' customers.

Service with confidence !!!! (Google GR Auto Care, Spring TX and you'll find numerous reviews from other GR A/C customers such as myself who are and remain extremely pleased with the service they receive from GR)

As many on this forum indicate, its getting harder and harder to find mechanics/techs who have experience working on these older/vintage Mercedes-Benz automobiles (as well as the other "Euros" I mentioned) and its pleasing to know that GR Auto Care take any "guessing" out of the process.

You can drive with confidence when you vehicle is serviced by G R Auto Care of Spring, Texas.
