He was a good guy ( I spent the better part of a day with him) but he was an academic and english not his first language; he got his back up a couple times in technical arguments with folks and it got a bit out of hand. It is a shame, he was a font of knowledge.

As a key member and admin of this site hopefully you will consider being an advocate in pursuing reinstating Steve_B as he was a valuable contributor to this site. I realize some of us may at times get excited about our positions in the best motor oil or tire pressure etc. but I am sure you would agree that for the benefit of the site and it’s members a “second chance” could/should be in order.

I liked Steve. However, there is a decorum expected to participate on this site, and the moderators and administrators have shown time and time again that the rule of law here is not negotiable just because a member is well-liked or helpful. Making exceptions to the rules inevitably leads to the degradation of the quality of the site - and nearly every other car forum out there is an unmitigated cesspool, to say the least, so the aversion is well-warranted.

That being said, I don't think remediation is impossible, and given the time between the incidents and today, combined with the totality of the circumstances I believe he could be brought back with a formal apology on his part.

Gentlemen,

He was banned for something WAYYYYYYYYYY BEYOND what he said to someone, or the conversations with others. It goes WAYYYYYYYYYYYY Beyond that. For that reason, the WHOLE Benzworld (other sites-from the same owners) started this rule that is seamless NOW to all, but it was major issue then. Yes, he was a great guy, but something on the inside happened, and we will leave it at that.

I will not mention what it was, nor will I write about it, and i will not accept PM's about it.
