Hello:

I just bought a set of OEM Mercedes bixenon headlights to replace to stock halogen headlights on my '01 S500. I also bought the OEM
connectors and pigtails to ground the high beam, so I just need the module recoded.

I know that Star / DAS can recode the module for Xenon headlights but I'm wondering if anyone has also done it with an aftermarket
scanner, such as Foxwell?

Yeah, I'm working on getting a better scanner than the iCarSoft which I have.

How about these systems?

The passthru does work but yours is a 2001 if you have any module that requires hhtwin it will not work.
If you send me the Vin I can check it for you.

Yes, agreed, that is exactly what all the R170 owners discovered after they "cheaped out" lol ;)

Bite that bullet, buy a C3 or C4 SD Connect and be done with it, you will save 20x the cost over a few years in Parts that you didn't really need, plus less vehicle downtime and less frustration ;)

Just ask @cowboyt how much SDS has saved him ;)

And if you ever go away from MB's it will likely sell for more than you paid as a "TurnKey" ready to work system ;)
