Some years ago I read an article about someone in Australia who turbo-charged his 350SL. I remember he had problems due to the high compression (9.5:1) of the Aus delivered 3.5 litre. The lower compression 4.5 in the 450SL would probably be a better candidate for this.

Working on the new purchase, front shocks today removed air cleaner and noted this little part on the fire wall with a screw in the end. So it has something to do with vacuum, there is one next to it hooked to vacuum. Still waiting for my service book to arrive so I will have a reference...

So, it fires straight away from cold. I should say that cold here is never below 15C.
Then the tickover revs climb slowly to around 1700. It then drops suddenly and does it again.
It drives fine and ticks overcast around 1000rpm when warm.
I tried blocking the air...
