My mechanic tracked it down to a broken O-ring on the air line off the turbo. MB part? $300 (and 10 days from Germany) for a replacement hose and clamp and O-ring) -- O-ring not available separately.
It's an O-ring with a ridge in it, so a specialized part. However.... my mechanic had a look at a similar part she had pulled off a VW (Diesel) and guess what, she phones me back with the good news; VW part# 3C0 145 117H is an exact match; for $11.04.
Now, in the "pay it forward" category, does anyone have a PDF of the W245 service manual?
