Who knows how to troubleshoot electrical issues?

My car's been sitting dead in the driveway, no lights on the instrument cluster, engine won't turn over. I checked the obvious, fuses, battery is showing a charge of 7.5. (It should read 12.4 volts) But isn't 7.5 enough juice to light up the instrument cluster?

What I think happened is that I left the daytime running lights on overnight. Weird thing is that I never heard the buzzer warning me that lights were on. But the next morning I noticed that the knob was turned.

I'm waiting for my buddy to show up with jumper cables, And it's most likely the battery (since it's not showing a full charge/but I don't get why it's not at least lighting up the cluster), but is there anything that I might be able to troubleshoot to make certain it's not something else?

Thanks!

Hey Jippi- I have Euro lights with DRL's. Not sure how old the battery is- I've had the car since 07 and never replaced the battery. Its never shown any signs of weakness until now.

the euro lights have city lights which are wired to the parking lights and usually arent on constantly with the lights off. but i guess it depends on how they aree wired. sounds like time for a new batt.

Yup, my DRL's are wired to the corner (parking) lights. I guess I'm surprised that I need a new battery because its never shown signs of being drained. There's always been a lot of power there.

Thanks for the feedback, if jumping the car doesn't work I guess I'll look into a new battery. What battery would you recommend?

battery should depend on the load your putting it under...if you have add-ons to the car..or it's gets near freezing, i'd suggest a higher cranking amp battery with the winter coming, i run a optima yellow 925 cranking amps in my 16v

Optimas sounds nice, a bit out of my range at this time. I have a standard 1992 2.6 without any add-ons. Thanks for the info.
