first off i have a 78 w123 diesel

my transmission will not shift i have found several vacum diagrams post 78
they all show a vacum supply running to the transmission but i find nothing of the sort on mine does anyone know if mine is even equipped with one?

Yes,look at the passenger side of the transmission,towards the tail and there is a modulator with one vacuum line going to it.You may get lucky and it may have become loose.

I believe '78 was the year they changed the transmission shift from a rod to cable and/or vacuum. So if you have the old model (stronger tranny!) you have a rod coming from the linkage and going to the right side of the transmission, a little bend to make it over the starter. It all depends on the right lenght. Trial and error that is.
But if your transmission doesn't shift at all you'll probably have search deeper.
I asume you've checked oil level? And all linkage being correctly at place, etcetra.
things like that could make a hell of a differance!
