My '07 ML500 has the electronic shifting system (the lever by the steering wheel that you just click down to put into drive). It also has tiptronic pedals behind the steering wheel.
The "Check Engine" light comes on. When I put in D I feel strong kick , and the car won't shift out of first gear, neither automatically nor with the tiptronic pedals.

Do you have any ideas what could be the problem? It has only 35K miles.

Your car has the 722.9 tansmission, have you had the fluid and filter changed yet? If not it should be done now. Is the car still under warranty?

I wonder if it is yet another valve body issue. Siemens and MB really need to get the valve bodies sorted.
The last I checked they were on version 5 of that valve body.

Even today they have not sorted it, how many more "modified" valve bodies will we see?
