About a week ago I started having some problems with the shifting in my automatic. It's a 300D, 130,000 miles. From first to second it now kicks very, very, very hard, and not just in the usual MB manner. From 2nd to 3rd it takes it forever to shift. It sounds like I have to get the rpm's so high to get it to shift from 2nd to 3rd. I go faster, and faster, and faster, and then it finally shifts into 3rd. It shifts "OK" into fourth, but not like usual. I've had it for about a year, and haven't changed the transmission fluid/filter, and am not sure when it was last changed. Any ideas?

Change filter and fluid

Start by changing the fluid and the filter. There is some adjustment that can be done as well if it's still acting up. Check to make sure there is not a vacuum leak.
