Before I put back the rear transmission case housing on the transmission rear case, I am wondering if using permanex gasket spray (copper) on both sides of the gasket and two coats in between drying times of around 20 minutes is ok? Anyone out there have done this or is it necessary to use permanex gasket spray on the housing gasket? Feedback, comments, advice, etc., is greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be necessary for anything other than the gasket to be used. If there wasn't a gasket sealer in position with the original housing, no need for one now. No harm in doing so however. If you do use a sealer product, Hylomar is probably the best.

I had been doing some research regarding using gasket sealer on the rear case housing. From what I gathered so far, it is not necessary to use gasket sealer on this rear transmission case housing.
