Here are the procedures. Understand that the trans. bolts are "one time use" and must be replaced each and every time you remove the pan.

Torque value is at the bottom of pdf #1. Torque Angle Gauge is needed for second stage.

Hey 43
PDF #1 shows a part it calls the sprag, but I cannot locate that anywhere that sells the pan bolts. Is it known by another name in the parts world?
Second question, if one of the bolts snaps, but is still sticking out, how difficult is it to remove? Any experience you could pass along?
Thanks.

Those pan sprags are probably something you’ll need to get from a Mercedes Dealer. It’s a fairly unique and specific part. Did you lose one?

Are you aware that you need special equipment to drain and fill the trans. fluid?

Those sprags, small & large ones, can only be purchased from a dealer or an online dealer.

If you break a bolt use a vice grip pliers and work the bolt back and forth until you feel it is loose enough to remove it.

All of those bolts are "one time use only" and must be replaced each and every time you remove them.

I am aware of the special equipment to drain and fill. Thanks for asking.
Actually have been trying to determine why transmission went into limp mode; ended up purchasing iCarsoft i980 OBDII scanner, and got codes 2501 and 2502; further research led me to believe it may be as simple as low on fluid. So, in order to check my theory, before just doing a flush/change, I purchased a few liters of fluid, got an ATF filling system from CTA Tools and a filling adapter. Worked like a champ and it was indeed low on fluid.

Next step is to change fluid, filter, and gasket, but as I was performing the above described fluid check and fill, I discovered the missing sprags and broken bolts. Therefore my suspicion is the fluid is slowly leaking because the seal isn't what it should be. Thanks for the sprag info, and I will look for them online.

There are two different types of sprag for the pan. Five of them are the same, but one has an extra bolt hole where a wiring harness bracket attaches. The standard sprag is A2202710068. The special one is. A2202710268. The bolts are A0049903512.

Why was it necessary for you to post the same info that I had already posted?
