When the car is left outside in below 40 degrees F. for a few hours, the transmission does not shift out of 1st gear. After driving in 1st gear for about 1 minute the transmission shifts properly.
Transmission oil and filter have been replaced.
In above 40 degree F. the car shifts normally.
Any Ideas?
Thanks, Bob

I do not see any problem with that. My car does the same with cold engine and transmission, but for less time, maybe 30 seconds. I live in Florida, so we t see 40 degrees F very rarely. This will allow the ATF to warm up faster.

Similar here. Both our w210 & w163 - ML500 behave that way. If I allow about a 5 minute warm up, they shift up pretty quick, but if I 'rush' out the drive way quickly it takes most of the .3 mile street to highway to willingly shift up. Once it does, no other delays to shift.

How often do you service trans with new filter & fluid ?
