Transmission mount replacement DIY.

I took the liberty and made a pdf out of G-AMG's excellent write up of the transmission mount change on his 1999 S420. As it is the same as on the W210 I thought it would be a useful addition to the DIY of this forum. Mods, please move it to that section.
Thank you,

Alex

Wow, that's great, although giving big credits to G-AMG I found it not comfortable to click on single picture, which pops up in a separate window each time and lose the overview of the procedure as a whole.

Thanks!
Thanks, just what I needed and simplified
Thanks, very good article.
Thanks for the write up. I needed this right now. I am in the process of throwing mine up on the stands to replace the flexdisc. Now, the job . . .

1. Replace both flex disk
2. Replace the steering stablizer
3. Replace the transmission mount
Thanks, very good article.
Yes, but how do I know that I need to replace the trans mount? What are the symptoms of a bad mount?
Thanks !

if you get poor idling and get worse when you reverse out of garage. That is one of the most important test. You have not replace the MM for 70K miles.
I just did my motor mounts and at a stop light I can still feel a very slight rumble but in reverse its gone.. think it could be the granny mounts?

If you're asking, you probably need help. First, get under there and look at it. But jack correctly so you don't play roulette with your life. Or, at least have a $10,000 life insurance for your funeral. My life insurance is $3M, so I get under the car all I want.
Is that a whole life ?
No, it's not whole life. It's term. Oh, and it's $3.5M--my mistake.

Whole life is a waste of money. Life insurance companies try to sell you these "investment" products that look like it's making you money. Some even sell you "100% money back" products that gives you money back if you're not dead by a certain time.

Truth is, these "investments" don't even outperform low-yield CD accounts.

Stick with term, pay for as many years as possible. Mine is based on my 10-year projected income.
I totally agreed with your logic about whole life and term life. But it will be better to use company expenses to pay for whole life for 10 years then not worry about it in the future. Anyhow those are pre tax expenses. Just for fun we should not hi jack this thread.
Haha, hijacking.... Yes, let's stop after this one....

I'm retired, so no company expense anymore! But, I signed up for term while I was still young, and I signed up for many decades, so I'm still covered for years. I have enough assets for them, but the extra 3.5 (tax-free) would be nice for them, since I'm affected by the estate tax....

Btw, I've been to Ft. Worth. Brings back good memories when I was still ridin' my saddle. I never got around on my own because I was being wined and dined by some guys for a few days, but I remember going to the County to discuss plans for a light rail going past the Tandy towers, and I remember other things like the geodesic dome, the bar with 1000 beers, the big party place (that place is crazy; was it Billy's or something like that), and a famous tex-mex restaurant.... Good times....

Cheers
Does anyone have the .pdf from post #1. I only get a file that is 74KB and it seems corrupted and won't open. Thanks!

You don't need to wait for the pdf, it was compiled from this thread in the 140 forum, so just use that.
