Replacement of the transmission modulator valve on a 90 560SEL does it require any adjustments with the new valve. thanks

No critical adjustments, just shift quality which is very minor.
Getting it in without cutting the o-ring and not leaking is good on the first try.

I don't recall it being scary at all. (Except for its relation to the transmission.)
