My car keeps getting harder to start due to something in the automatic tranny that keeps it from starting except in Park. If I move the shifter around, I can get it to start but it keeps getting worse. How do I fix it?
Marci
'80 280E

I think that you need a new neutral safety switch so that it can start in park and neutral.

Hope this helps.

Austin
Re: Thanks, but where is the neutral switch?

It is on the drivers side of the transmission. It is fairly difficult to change because when I changed mine, I took the drive shaft out, and I lowered the tranny with a jack for support, then I put it in. I would really recomend taking it to a mercedes garage to do it. My dad has a lift, so I did it at his house.

Austin
