So the owner's manual doesn't specify any particular type of A/T to use in the 420SEL, whether it be Dexron II, Dexron III, Mercon, or any other. I'm leaning towards a "full synthetic". Any thoughts~??

After some consultation with some US retail vendors some 15 years ago, it was suggested I use this in my '87 560, and I've continued, if ness. with my later 500SEC with the Euro transmission.

I don't feel the brand is important, however the MERCON or DEXTRON III designation are.

Thanks. I retired from a company that was an oil jobber. When I left I did so with several cases of CAM-2 sybthetic oil in 5W-20 weight which I have used in my Lincoln Town Car exclusively. It is an absolutely fantastic product. I change the oil every 8,000 to 10,000 and don't use even the tiniest drop between changes. The rep was the most knowledgeable oil guy that I had ever met.
