Im havin a bit of bother regarding a salvage automatic gearbox being fitted to my mercedes v230 auto.

The mechanic has informed that he has used 5 litres mercedes fluid and 5 litres of dextron 3 fluid.

The gearbox will not engage drive and I am wondering wether the choose of using different fluids could result in this problem.

Sussex automatic specialist thinks that could be the problem as dextron 3 is not a syntehic oil were as mercedes oil is fully syntheic

any suggestions

There is no need for any additives with the Mercedes ATF. In fact Mercedes strictly prohibits such and will void any warranties if it is used. The Mercedes ATF has everything in it your transmission needs.

When I had my tranny flush in the ML, The SA said that the fluid was new and had 'additives' in it. The new MB fluid was also much more expensive than what was in it.

the lucas additive does not void the warrenty as i bought the lucas from the mb service dealer and had them install it themselves. as for the fact that it is not needed you can do what you want with your car but a small bottle of this stuff may be your best preventitive maintenence against a future tranny rebuild. 15 doller bottle or 15 thousand doller tranny? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
