It is under the lid of the module compartment at the passenger side under the hood. The module compartment is just in front of the firewall. The TCM is the module closest to the fuse and relay module , K40.

It's the big black plastic box in the back corner on the right hand side. The lid is secured with 4 screws.

thanx 260e cruiser....behind the fuse box ..right by the hood hinge?
Yes, near the right hinge. Fuse box is on opposite side.

Are you sure you want to mess with it? You sound a little lost.

Are you having any symptoms?

Are you reading codes thru 38 pin socket in the fuse box?

As far as I know, transmission codes on a W210 can only be read and erase thu the 38 pin port with a scanner capable of reading MB codes and a COMPATIBLE adapter cord.

I do recall someone posting in the past that he was able to do so thru the OBD II port with certain scanner.

Wrong side. I said passenger side. People get confused where right and left is as it changes where you look at it from.

You can read the Transmission codes (more detailed than pre-facelift models) translated to MB specific P2------ codes, but you cannot reset them. You need to access the 38 pin connector for reset. (the one in the above picture, with a proper scanner).

Right hand side is from driver's seat! That's the fuse box.

Two thing you need to check first:

1) Transmission fluid level with the PROPER MB dipstick tool. Engine must be running and in park.

2) Transmission electrical connector (pilot bushing) for fluid intrusion. Lever must be flip down and plug removed.

i read with OBD..and got these 2 codes ...and it did clear them

A P0715 trouble code is related to the communication between a vehicle's engine and transmission. When the input speed sensor does not receive a signal that is within the manufacturer's parameters, a P0715 will illuminate as the transmission will not be able to read the engine RPMs to shift properly.

P0700 Mercedes-benz Description
When the TCM detects a malfunction with the control, a signal is send to the Engine Control Module (ECM) to trigger the Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light. The ECM stores the P0700 code and it means the TCM detected a malfunction with the transmission controls.
