So I was at the dealership picking up parts and mentioned that the Transmission shifter is loose. They sold me a $4 green bushing. I have seen video of folks on lifts replacing the bushing….my question, can this be done fairly simply from on top thru the console? if so does anyone have a link to DIY for this…

thanks

another question on cluster is if I purchase a brand new cluster then can I plug and pay or is it a reprogram needed.?

Thanks in advance

I believe that bushing goes on the shift rod where the shifter attaches. It's installed from underneath.

A new cluster must be programmed using SDS.

Yes you can replace this bushing from the top, but that would require the removal of the center console and shifter assembly. Sometimes a much cleaner way to do this, but obviously much more time and know how.

Yeah the cluster would need some programming for mileage and service settings at the dealer.
