Hello just trying to figure out what trans in in my 1996 E320 with the M104 engine, I believe it is a just the four speed auto, it has a factory dip stick. Most info I see here is on the 722 trans, which I believe is not what I have. Car works great just looking to service the trans and want to get the right trans fluid. Thanks

I have a '96 E320 and the transmission is the "older" 722 four-speed. If you want absolute info, call a dealership and give them your VIN; they can verify what your transmission is.

Those transmissions were grandfathered on W210 for 1 year from W124, so most info about them is in W124 section.
My father has one in W124 with 300, 000 miles.
Works like a charm, although comparing to 722.6 you have annoying power surges.

It was a trans that was surely in the W124, its a 96 car but seems to be a very early one. Just not a lot of W210 info with this trans. I think it even goes back to my old W123?
