Hello:)

You have connectivity problems to the two solenoids, and you need to isolate where the problem is.

1) start from the TCM connectors. Remove connectors from TCM, and locate pins 38, 15, and 16 on the harness side.

2) measure resistance between 38 and 15, and between 38, and 16. You should read 2.5 to 6.5 Ohms.

3)If you do, you have a problem with the TCM, if you do not, you need to go down to the adapter plug and locate pins 6, 9 , and 8.

4) Measure resistance between pins 6 and 8, and between pins 6 and 9. Both should be around 4.5 ohms

5) if you read the resistance values, your cable harness / connectors are bad. If you do not read the resistance values, you have a problem with the conductor plate installation of the solenoids, or bad solenoids.

Yes, The TCU applies power to these pin pairs to activate the solenoids. If you changed the conductor plate due to P0715, and never had these solenoid faults before, the chances are the TCU is fine, but there is something wrong with the conductor plate / adapter / connector installation. Make sure you do not have any bits and pieces of plastic in the adapter which can cause bad connections between the plug and the conductor plate.

Mr boca thank you. All is good with tcu and conductor plate and solenoids. The harness plug at the plate was cocked at an angle due to one tab on the new plug missing so it wasnt seated correctly. Bought new plug and cleared codes and shifts like a dream. At 273000 miles all is well with my 420. Thanks again

Did you have to clear the codes at the 38 pin connector or could you use the obd port
