stick your head under the car and look up at the drivers side of the gear box. There you will see the linkages - there are 2 bushes to replace one at the back of the shifter rod and one at the front after you take of the retaining clips, they are a bit of a PITA to get in, use a bit of anti seize or litium grease on the bushes to help them get in, use pliers or vice grips. Once you see the bushes youll know what to do its pretty straight foreward

I just replaced my linkage bushing on my 1984 500 SEC. Part# 115-992-03-10 was the part that I replaced. The dealer stocks the part and it retailed for $2.81. Your dealer needs to try a little harder......

That was for the one bushing that was at the rear of the linkage, straight down from the shifter. Mine was gone. The front one seemed ok. Also, it was find of a bitch to get that bushing back in the hole so I "barely" trimmed the new one with a razor blade and that made it easier to force in the linkage. It fits nice and tight and the shifter feels like new.
