Is the bowden cable the only up shifting / down shifting time control , instead kickdown valve?

Kick down is working ok , with good behavior (downshift) under acceleration.

The question is if i accelerate until the end in 1st it doesnt upshift to 2nd and engine goes to 4500 RPM and stays. If i acclerate until 3/4 of the end it up shifts 1st to 2nd 9 or 3rd , i am in doubt) at 3500 RPM.

This mean kickdown solenoid is working on a bad way?

What is the vacuum modulator function? Only turn shift soft?

I looks like it doenst have 2nd.

Would like to have a 722303 workshop manual but didnt find.

Thnaks in advance for help.

Transmission

Sounds like your valve body IN the transmission is sticking or not shifting at all. I would drop the pan and see what is going on there. If you have to remove the valve body it is very easy but make sure you put the valave body check balls in the correct locations.

If the kickdown solenoid is stuck or always engaged because the kickdown switch under the accelerator is stuck, you only get shifts at the highest speed possible and you cannot influence the shift points with the accelerator. The kickdown solenoid is either on or off. But even if the kickdown solenoid is stuck, it should shift to the next gear.

Vacuum modulation controls the oil pressure inside the transmission and determines the quality of the shift (hard or soft).

The bowden cable is working all right? and it is adjusted properly?

The German workshop manuals decribes the automatic transmission in great detail.

Doug :the valve you are talking about is into the transmission?

Gouver : It upshifts ok in low RPMs , the question is when i use accelerator in a more agressive way and in 1st gear. In that situation it doesnt upshift.

Up and down shifts produced by accelerator are ok , better than that , soft and quick.

I dont think that solenoid or kickdown valve are stuck , they are working when i push accelerator pedal.

Another strange thing is that sometimes when i start to ride the car looks like in 4th , no power at all. I was thinking on a issue on start vacuum valve, but now...its possible to be a transmission issue.Other hand it looks like doesnt have 2nd gear.

Thanks a lot...

Before you go too deep, check the green vacuum can that plugs into the top of the injection pump. If it is clogged, it can make you think you've got a bad tranny. It won't upshift and will act like the upper gears are gone. It'll wind out in first and if lucky, may hit 2nd, then 3rd and 4th feel like they are gone.
