I'm seriously thinking of trading in my S420 for a
smaller BMW. I think the Benz with it's size is just
too much of a car. For weekends it's really nice but
for daily driving, forget it...Any thoughts, drawback
with BMW?...thanks...
94 S420
Carlsson wheels design 1/5

I'm looking at this 95 525i

A smaller car with a little feel luxury and sportiness
that can be pretty much a commuter car. I know it's
a bit of a downgrade but I just don't want to be
staring at my S420 and driving a beat-up truck
to work. It's really driving me crazy though trying
to decide. This is my second Benz and I had 2 BMW
before...Help...

That is a big jump. Although the 5 series BMW would definitely be easier to bring around.
It is however slower but before you get it, make sure to check any recalls for this vehicle and to inform your BMW dealer that you now own the car so that any past/future recalls can be remidied free of charge.
Frank
: A smaller car with a little feel luxury and sportiness
that can be pretty much a commuter car. Forget the BMW

The ZF 4HP22 automatic transmission is prone to failure around 100-125K miles, and electricals can also be a source of headaches. If you want a solid automobile, look at a 93-95 300E, 400E, E320, or E420 Mercedes. A much more "together" automobile in my opinion. Or, you could always look at a Volvo 850 GLT with the LPT (light-pressure turbo) engine, from 1996-97. These cars will do 0-60 in 6.8 seconds and will shame any 525i.
-Sam Parsons
85 380SE
87 Volvo 740 Turbo

Re: DON'T DO IT!!!!

I traded in my 99 S420 and really miss that car. I kept my 98 740i, and really enjoy the driving aspect of the 740, but miss that luxury feeling and solidity of the big W140.

: I'm seriously thinking of trading in my S420 for a
smaller BMW.
