Well go for it, that Benz not cutting it for you. Do what you like. Everyone likes something different after a while. Here we like the fact that MB has longevity with style.

You'd be switching from a battle-proven, rock solid, 300k mile car with low electronic content to a much less durable and more complicated (electrically) car. Still, to each his own. Check your insurance rates before you jump.

Send me the VIN in a private message. I have casual interest in picking up a V8 W124 and you're not hideously far away. Include your zip please.

The C36 or C43 AMG will be a lot quicker and sportier, and they look great too, no doubt about it.

But the car you already have, while it's no corner carver like the one you might want to replace it with, is a REALLY durable long distance cruiser, easier to maintain, with less computer gremlins to sweat, and very low mileage, for that model, and when you consider the miles left in it.

You should have no problem selling the car if it is priced reasonably, and is in good shape. It's a VERY good car, about 80% of what you'd get in an E500, the E class supercar of the time. Think VERY carefully before get rid of the car.

Even with 110k on the clock, there is a real good chance in the long haul, ie, over the next 10-20 years, it will outlast the C36 or C43 and have been less costly to run over those years.

But the C36 and C43 are good sedans too, they look good, and could NEVER be called boring, they are real sports sedans, and a definate alternative to the M class BMW 3 or 5 series. If you are willing to pay the higher repair costs and risk the possibility that your car will have worse build quality and computer gremlins, then the change could be worth it.

110,000 is barely broken in. And as mentioned, the newer gen 202 will have a bit more electrical gremlins and not as sturdy.

To get "sporty", look at H&R springs, Bilstein shocks and 17s with good rubber. That will more than take care of the drive part.

Look through the picture gallery at the top of the forum and find out just how sporty these can be for not much effort. My guess is you can get front airdam and subtle wing, skirts done nice for less than down payment on the 202. And you still have a screaming V8.

haha wow, now im definitely doubting this decision. I mean i do love my car; We've been everywhere together. All these thigns about the electrical gremlins and higher repair costs scare me a bit but how much would these mods y'all speak of cost?

haha man that's awesome, I would love that, but i'm a college student. I think this summer ill get new rims/wheels and ground effects. How much you think that'll run me?
Well, if you don't go nuts on the rims cost wise you should be able to get the effects for under a grand plus paint. Shop around for paint as you will find costs going from 200-1200 depending on where you go. Get the cladding done at the same time to complete the look.

Otherwise that car really only looks like it is dropped [a bit too much from the look of the camber on the front wheels] and has the grill shot in body color [could be done when painted]. Also, you can smooth up the look by going to the dealer and getting the headlight washer delete panels to eliminate the washers.

Once the car is painted, if the rest of the paint is good, have it all color sanded which will bring out the color and take any fading away and the car should look good.

Post up pics of your car and I am sure you will get a complete styling makeover out of this crew. :)

well see i'm a college student too and am currently in the process of doing a little modding myself, so I can understand that this stuff may come to be expensive. Some springs and rims/tires could set you back under 1500.

That car looks good. And you have the 420 so speed is NOT an issue. To sport up the look I would look at getting a front spoiler and SMALL rear wing [the little lip or 1-2" box] paint it all the same black as your car and that will take care of aero.

Find a nice set of used 17" AMG wheels [aero 1 monoblocks or others] or even the replicas for $700 or so [less for replicas] and see how that does you. Put on a set of Kumho ECSTA ASX tires [about $90 each] and see how that changes the feel of the car. I bet you will be able to hold off on the lowered suspension for a year or so. If you to to TireRack.com you can get the correct wheel and tire package for your car shipped to your house at a package price.

I don't think you will NEED to spend any more money to sport up the car until later. Save your nickels and dimes and later you can put a Sportline suspension on when the car actually needs shocks. That will take care of lower, tighten up and improving steering all at the same time.

That car is beautiful, just as is. I'd leave it alone. A late model 124 with the 420 in that color with low miles, you don't know what you have.

It looks just great without the body kit.
