I sure know how to go through cars....

During my stay in California for The Quail show, I was browsing ebay and found a 2002 SL500 sport in desert silver. Nice Florida car with 75k miles. Got a decent deal on it. I've only put a few hundred miles on it since I got it. Anyway, one of my salesmen comes up to me yesterday and says he's found a car I might like. My immediate reaction was along the lines of "oh great, what don't I need this time?". Turns out a lot better than I was expecting. A two owner, 31k mile, 1999 SL600 sport in smoke silver...with an asking price of only $20k. Needless to say, I could not pass it up. Best car I've bought in quite some time. I'm absolutely enthralled with it. The power is just wonderful--smooth and silky. I've been around M120s for a while, but I haven't had a chance to experience a second generation V12 R129 until now. What an improvement over my 1994. Love everything about the car. The ride is light-years better than the SL500. The full leather interior is fantastic. The multi-zone lumbar support is perfect. Mechanically, the SL600 needs nothing. It doesn't even vibrate (best part about the car if you ask me). In a perfect world, the SL600 would be desert silver, as I really do like that color better than smoke silver. Most pleased with how things turned out though.

Yes, very sorry I haven't updated that thread yet. The wiring harness is all completed and the car runs great now. I'm in the process of shaving some weight out of it. I ditched the stock seats and soft top (the hard top is now manually locked in place). I need to throw some taller spring pads up in the front. It's just a tad bit too low as is. I need to sort out what Sparco's I'm going to use in it and then send it out to have a harness bar installed.

We're pretty good at keeping the place clean. Nothing worse than a filthy shop you don't feel like working in

Mine has a little wheel there for headlight/ride height adjustment, could it be that?

Yep! The '94 S600 coupe is in the middle of the shop. Still waiting for the harnesses to show up. None in stock in the states, so waiting on them from Germany. Hopefully they'll show up soon. At least I have the SL now to tide me over until it's drivable. This V12 bug is sure dangerous....
