What are the top speeds people have driven on their S-Class? I'm afraid I have never really pushed my S-Class anywhere near its limit. But I'm curious to know how fast people have driven theirs (on the stock sedan without modifications). Here's mine:

Model: 400SEL (1993)

Top speed driven: 125 mph (200 kmph)

Experience: I felt I was zooming, since I left every other vehicle behind me in seconds! But the vehicle felt totally stable and in complete control. Only the speedometer knew what speed I was going at

Stretch driven: 0.5 mile

Speedlimiters

W140Gill is right, well pretty close, almost all German cars are electronically limited to 250km/h, except Porsche. However you can have it removed. I think it was brouhgt in around 1987, perhaps by the Green Party ( Someone can correct me on this ). Pre 87 Mercedes do not have limiters, but most were not capable of such a speed anyways. The Euro 560SEL was only capable of 242km/h at that time. However the BMW 750i L came out around 1987 and was able to do 255km/h, though I image the limiter was put on the following year.

135mph on I-70 in Kansas. Didn't go faster because

1. Tires are HR rated so I wasn't sure the tires could handle more speed. Car was very smooth and stable at that speed.

2. Up in the horizon, a little shinny dot that turned out to be state police. But I was slowing to a more civilized 65 mph when I really saw him.
