OK its been a while since I have been on the site and now call me stupid but today I was removing my hardtop myself and the back latch tore the vinyl on the cover where the soft top hides. Just need to be sure how to remove the cover to have it replaced.
I am thinking after examination that there are a bunch of nuts along the outside edge of the cover and if I remove them the thing will come apart. Am I correct? if not how does it come off? stupid me :crying

Sorry that's not it. But you may be close. In the first photo the item I am referring to is the part that flips up when top is going up or down and its the part that you manually unlock to get the compartment open so you can get the top in or out. On the back edge of that there are several nuts holding what I believe the plate for the top cover. I need to know if I have to remove those to get that piece off the car to have it repaired. I know how to remove the top . Been there done that ! Hope that clears it up.

Should have stayed in Florida (the land of perpetual sunshine) and took the hard top to the junk yard ! Those things cause more damage than good :eek

After 45 years in New England, and 25 here, it's that there is not a damned thing to shovel or scrape that does it for me.

Then there is that:

  • There is no personal income tax;
  • No motor vehicle inspections;
  • No motorcycle helmet laws;
  • There is nothing to shovel or scrape;
  • The coldest it got this year (here in NE Florida, South Saint Johns County, one mile West of the Intra-Coastal), outdoors was 38°F;
  • Coldest it got in the garage was 50°F'
  • There is nothing to shovel or scrape;
  • The beach (that we can drive on) is 1-3/4 miles East;
  • Best bass fishing in the country is 25 miles West (good bass fishing is 200 yards West);
  • There is nothing to shovel or scrape;

Oh, did I mention there is nothing to shovel or scrape?

I haven't been to Florida in years, I have nothing against the place...
but in the interest of fairness....
On the downside of living in Florida you have:
-Humidity
-Year 'round insects
-A gator might eat your neighbor's poodle (some may see that as a positive)
-Does Tony Montana still live there?
and the #1 reason why Florida may not be for you...
-Hurricanes. When I was in the military I spent a couple of weeks in Miami as part of the Hurricane Andrew recovery task force. Weird stuff....

My aunt & uncle used to have a place in Vero Beach - beautiful area. You have the Indian River and the coast just a few miles east.

Me, I like the Keys.

But I think particularly in the southern area, summers aren't much fun.

It's all what you get used to. Summers are hot up north too.

My biggest complaint is that I'm busy at work during much of the nice weather season. It would be better if the IRS moved the due date from April 15 to the middle of the summer.

I used to live (exist) in Hilton Head SC where I was a golf professional. Hottest muggiest place on earth. Never again. I love the mountains love the snow and the cold. It gets rid of the bugs. I don't fish I don't go to the beach. I don't pay taxes either. I am exempt. I am a 100% disabled Viet-Nam veteran. I live in the mountains of NC where I want to be. I play golf 7 days a week (for free) and take money from anyone that wants to play me. I dont shovel snow either. I use a blade on my tractor.

You forgot the bears, had one that was an easy 350 lbs in the back yard (75 yards or so from the house) a couple weeks ago.

I wouldn't live in South Florida on a bet, for a whole variety of reasons, hurricanes being perhaps the least of them. Here in NE Florida we have not had one make landfall since Dora in 1964 (which could of course mean we are due).

Cliff, I've lived in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. I agree that it's way too congested there. I'm in Jupiter which is on the northern edge of that mess. Nice up here and still close enough to a city with things to do.

My brother lives in Jacksonville. I don't see the attraction.

I have 1400 acres of mountain property . Bears, Wildcat , Coyotes , Fox, Boar, Turkey to name a few are seen everyday . But we dont have any bugs flying around up here. Too cold for them where I am. Nice piece of Heaven .

Sounds very peaceful. I have lived most of my life within 2 miles of the Atlantic, 45 years on Cape Code and nearly 25 here--don't think I'd do well too far away from it...

Like Dorothy said " There's no place like home." I have lived in a lot of places but nothing beats the hill country of NC. For me that is. Cape Cod could be an interesting place. Beaches here are for tourists and the almighty dollar it seems.
