Hi,

Can anyone please confirm the exact contents of the tool kit for an 81 500SL please?

I do have a tool kit but suspect a couple of items are missing!

Thanks

I would think that the toolkit is the same for all R107s.
Attached is a photo of the toolkit in my 1983 380SL:

I am missing a few items.... and the ones I do have have all suffered from the boot leaking in water. Here is a picture.

In case you are interested I've also attached a picture of the kit out of my 190e 2.3-16 Cosworth which seems to have similar components

Top picture is the Cosworth set

I agree but I think it was because of the deeper mounting seat in the 560 wheel.

Maybe Carl will comment. He bought is '83 380SL new.

My tool kit has never been used.
Its exactly as came from the factory.

Heck, even the spare tire has never been used - 32 years old
and still holding air.

My 560SL does not have its tool kit. I suppose these tend to get lost.
Every Mercedes I've scavanged at the local Junk Yards never
have those tool kits. Been looking for one.

Sometimes I come across a pouch but never in good enough shape to make it a keeper. Always check out the trunk when at a yard...

One on Ebay...$125.00...

Did your '83 come with the threaded rod to mount the wheels?

Would that be with the Jack located in the compartment with the Battery?
My Jack has never been removed.

I thought I needed that tool kit. Until I was fortunate enough to have one given to me by a member in Kelowna, BC.

Then I realized what a piece of shit it was and donated it to another member who "had to have it".

The only thing I have is that thread rod rim hanger....but I bought that at MB.

The tools aren't for using, you must know that!

Nowadays though if someone is going to pay a premium price for one of these cars they will expect the tool kit to be complete.....

Catch 22, I guess. If the car is nice enough to fetch a premium price then the tools probably aren't required. And if your SL requires regular maintenance.....then those would not be the tools of choice.

Anyways.....they aren't serialized....so anyone can get them from anywhere to make the car "complete".
