Too Many Miles?

Hey everyone, i was wondering how many is too many miles if you want to buy an older car. Example 95 e320, most e320's that are for sale have over a 100k miles. Whats your limit on Miles for an older car?

Believe it or not I personally would be very careful buying a W124 between 100k and 150k. The reason I say that is it seems that most things like head gasket, wiring problems, etc etc crop up around that time. If its past 150k there is a good chance most of that has been taken care off.
I know weird, but thats just me LOL [:)]
Seriously, best bet is to just look for records records records of the vehicle and hire a good prepurchase person, if you know of one, familiar with old MB's [;)]
If the car has been taken care of 300,000 miles is not unreasonable..
There is not really a rule of thumb on mileage when it comes to MERCEDES-BENZ motorcars. Always remember durability and long service life is what sets these cars apart from other marques. Like the others have said, look for service records because if worst comes to worst you will just have to perform services that should have been done. My last MBZ I bought had 175K miles but all major services had already been done. Now 50,000 miles later the only things I have had to do apart from routine maint. were to replace the battery and alternator and buy new tires. Oh yea, I had to recharge the A/C big deal. This car was a gem!
Bottom line--- Don't be put off by E320's with over 120K miles, I have seen many older M103 cars with 300K plus at the dealership sevice dept.

89'300e
92'400e
92'500e
I second Yal and Redwood.
M104 problems

I think the head gasket / wiring loom issue only applies to the multivalve 6 pot M104 made in the early 90's. I dont believe 4 pot or Diesels are affected therefore for any other engine than 104 I would not be concerned with any mileage under 200k.

At 100K, a W124 is barely used.
Go for it.
Come back to us when your speedo looks like THIS:

I bought my '89 300e with 220k miles 2.5 years ago. It will hit 300k this week. Absolutely no problems since I've owned the car. All original engine, trans, differential etc. Just changed out the original radiator a few weeks ago but only because a slight rise in temp was showing up on the gage. These cars are amazing.
I had a 1979 280SE. When I sold her she was on 806800 genuine miles and she ran and ran without a hitch.

You can't beat an over engineered Merc.
umm yea.. about that picture.. thats cool! lol. anyways, it leads to my question.. what does that thing under the speedometer mean? yours says like 21.0+ C....? huh...mine leaked or something but something it shows up... i am confused. i remember mine reading like 13.1 ish and then quickly jumps to 20
