You could do a drop-in K&N Filter for more air flow or you could all together get rid of the airbox by buying the filter and piping from this company in Boston. Price is around $200.
I'll get you the phone number and company name later as I can't remember right now
Here's a pic :

Cool.. That sounds great. Have you, or know anyone, that has done this to their CLK? What kind of performance increase did you, or they, notice? Thank you.
esoin
Don't expect much gains probably 1-2 hp. You'll get a nice deep intake sound though. My friend has this on his car. Someone also noted on other boards that an uncovered filter such as this one will even decrease your power especially once the engine bay gets hot. It sounds logical since the purpose is to suck as much cold air as possible into the engine. I've seen some guys make a custom heat-shield from sheet metal to separate the engine heat from the cone. I made one for my M3 and it's pretty good actually.
Frank
: Cool.. That sounds great. Have you, or know anyone, that has done this to their CLK? I haven't done it personally so I can't really say if it will do anything
for your car. It looks cool though !!
John
: Cool.. That sounds great. Have you, or know anyone, that has done this to their CLK? What kind of performance increase did you, or they, notice? Thank you.
esoin
