If you are going 18", then it is important to know the width first. Some people go with an 8.5" with all the way around and use a 225/40/18 tire. In my case, I have a 19x8.5 up front and opted for 19x10 in the back. My car has a little bit of rubbing in the back with a much wider tire.

Tire Size

The 225/45-17 tires have 24.7" in diameter, the 18" tires will 40's (lower profile) be at 25" approx., that's 3 10th of an inch bigger. Unless you are drag racing, you won't notice the difference. And on the positive side, your car will have a higher top speed.
