I have a 2000 SL500 with the sport package. I believe wheel size is 18". Looking to use it a limited amount in the snow so I am looking for winter tires.

Can I get by with 17" tires and wheels?

Also, anybody out there have any experience with EuroTech wheels? They seem to sell a lot on eBay.

Thanks in advance.

Tires

Brent,

The 18" tires / rims on your SL won't be and effective combination if you plan to drive the
car in snow.
You might think about purchasing another set of tires better suited for your winter driving.

You could also buy another set of rims / tires, most likely an OEM set of 16" which should perform better in the snow.

What area of the country are you driving?

Just to let you know 16" wheels will not fit on 99-2002 SL500 R129. Mercedes changed the size of the front calipers and the breaks will rub on the rim. I tried to put 16" set on a 99 1 month ago and the front tires will not spin. The Back calipers are fine just the front are too big.
