My 2000 CLK came with a Verizon StarTAK Digital phone. However my Verizon providor says that I need a trimode phone. Anyone know if the Timeport phone will work without an installation kit?

Not gonna happen buddy. You need to buy the Timeport and the install kit. Not a cheap proposition. The other alternative is the V60 which Mercedes will not support yet for the 2000 model cars because of an antennae issue. I have a 2000 E55 that came with the junky ass StarTac that I can't even get AT&T to activate because it is not trimode. Really pisses me off. They would actually activate it but the only rate plan they would offer was 75 cents per minute. No thanks. I will post my V60 results as soon as I do it. Stay tuned.

I just talked to someone in customer service at MBUSA and his tale is that it is impossible to upgrade the digital phone in a 2000 Benz to a trimode phone. He also told a vague tale “that they are working on a solution for the 2000 MB's phone problems but there is no information available. This is probably just a way to stall until most of the 2000 owners give up.

I am trying to get my hands on a V60 right now. Once I have done this I will get the install kit and let my guy do the work. I will post the results (good or bad) and see what Mercedes says after that. I'm betting that it will work just fine.

Just go the phone today. Some of the install kit is on back order and so I will have to wait until it is all together and then get my install guy to do the deal. I'll post the results when he gets me finished. See yall soon
