My 2007 C230 Sport has 53K on the odo, is it new damper time? I think I feel a little loose while cornering on a road with irregularities. And that is without consuming any frosty beverages.

Car is mainly a daily driver, with the occasional autocross. So a rock-hard ride in the interest of squeezing another .00001 G out of it is not desirable. But good handling is. Any experience with Sachs, Bilstein, Koni, Monroe or any of the myriad suppliers would be appreciated. Given the cost to swap out all four corners and re-align I want the next setup to last 50K.

you shouldn't need to replace them so soon. I'd check tire pressure. what do you mean by loose? the car isn't gripping as well as you'd like? the tires make 100x more difference than the shocks for that. if is leaning too much, the springs and sway bars make much more difference than the shocks. I also wouldn't mention monroe in the same sentence as the other brands.

It's possible that new shocks would help. The valves int hem tend to wear slowly, as opposed to experiencing an instantaneous, noticeable failure. I usually tend to look at replacement around 75K, but 53K could be noticeable.

I have just changed all 4 new shocks on my 01 C240 with 50k miles

the old ones worn out especially the rear shocks

got the Bilstein black which is a bit firmer than OEM, was thinking of the Yellow one but it's way more expensive

if you look for a new setup i recommend Eibach springs and Bilstein Yellow sport shocks and u can find them on Tire rack:thumbsup:

Thanks for all the good info. I should have been a little more descriptive. What I find is that at higher speeds rounding a curve on a road with some dips and irregularities, the up and down travel is a bit more than expected and makes me a little uncomfortable from a control perspective. Of course, I could just slow down..
