Hello I have a 240D that’s been sitting for awhile. I got it started today but the throttle is sticking. I got some synthetic grease and lubed the ball joints but it’s still not returning to idle, only full power. Any suggestions would be great. Could it be that spring on the firewall? When I pull the accelerator the spring expands but doesn’t return (if that makes sense) any help would be great.

There is also a spring between the injector pump and the crankcase that assists in return to idle, I believe.

Yes. The one in the picture returns the injector pump to idle. In the picture the injector pump is removed, so the spring is just hanging from it's bracket.

For landmarks, you can see the oil filter housing and the driver side motor mount.

What would your recommendation be? Replace the springs if they have no recoil? I will check the springs tomorrow.
