Does any one know where I can purchase a new throttle link bushing/assembly (that is on the drivers side firewall). Mine is very loose and there is a lot of play. I think this would explain why I have lost a lot of power and must floor the pedal while normal driving. I have attached a picture that I found on the forum to show the part I am looking for circled in red. I was hoping not to a have to buy it from the dealership.
Thanks in advance
I almost forgot to mention this is for a 1984 300TD

i was amazed (after realizing the white plastic part had disintegrated) at the huge difference the new bushing made in the way the car behaved, due to the lack of play in the accelorator. Keyvon- you will be very pleased with the result.

New bushing installed

Thanks mdanielson, you were defiantly right. After taking off the old one I found that there was no white bushing left and huge huge amount of play. I installed the new one (authauz-$41) in a couple of minutes and took her for a test drive and I could'n believe the results. She drove like a new car, I had all of my power back, especially off the line and trying to merge on the highway. I recommend other 123 drivers to inspect the throttle linkage/bushings for excessive play because you will be surprised by the difference once it is corrected.

Thanks for your help

What direction should there me no/minimal play? Mine will pull/push out of the fire wall probably a good inch. I always thought that was a bit strange but didn't notice any big issues, so I haven't prioritized it.

I recently replaced mine and it was definitely easier on the linkages. I did however figure out why mine (and probably many of yours) are failing. When I've taken the car in to have the valves adjusted, many mechanics try to keep as much stuff on the valve cover as possible for convenience. They just peel the valve cover over with the throttle bushings and all. This bends and torques the assembly as you would guess. I dunno, just a theory.

How was removal and installation? Any problems that came about we should know about?

^ Pretty straight forward. Just remove the logical items. On a turbo there is a couple of plates bolted to the cam cover, take 'em off, lay on the side, proceed from there.
